Article Review "Brazilian Icon and Big Swing"











Ted Panken reviews Tom Jobim's DVD's that contain one of the best Brazilian Jazz songs. He starts talking about how Jobim music was a great influence in the Brazilian Culture. Then he mentions the Bossa Nova which is a Brazilian musical movement. He says that Tom Jobim gave an ideal expression of Brazil's embrace of the future. What made him so big was that puts Brazil's flora and fauna into his musical productions.

So he keeps on talking about the DVD and about how Tom Jobim starts becoming famous. It took him a while to get known in foreign countries but he did it by his unique talent of music.Later on in his music he incorporates Rio De Janeiro culture and the result is that a portrait that addresses Jobim's persona by privileging his Brazilian-ness over his globally influential persona.

Tom Jobim's was a great person who was very important in the Brazilian culture but also made a difference over the world by his music. His DVD is great and contains great jazz material. Ted Pranken did a great job reviewing this DVD since he talks doesn't only talk about the quality of the DVD but he also mentions a little about Tom Jobim's success in the Brazilian culture.
